Is the “Social Club” Sicamous’s New Illuminati?
We have all seen them. They meet in broad daylight. They gather at local marinas. They laugh, they play trivia, and they hand over giant novelty checks to local search and rescue teams.
“People of the same trade seldom meet together, even for merriment and diversion, but the conversation ends in a conspiracy against the public, or in some contrivance to raise prices.”
— Adam Smith, The Wealth of Nations
To the untrained eye, the Sicamous Social Club is just a friendly community network founded by some locals. But history has taught us that the world’s most powerful secret societies never hide in the shadows, they operate right in front of our very eyes.
Move over Freemasons. Step aside, Bilderberg Group and Club of Rome. Sicamous has its own elite order, and they are playing the long game for political dominance.
The Trojan Horse of “Charity Work”
Every classic secret society needs a flawless cover story. The Illuminati had the Enlightenment; the Sicamous Social Club has philanthropy.
By organizing trivia nights, charity auctions, and polar plunges, the Club isn’t just raising money—they are building a flawless public image. Who would ever dare investigate a group that helps the SPCA? It is the ultimate shield. By positioning themselves as selfless community heroes, they ensure total immunity from public suspicion.
The Golden “Oscars”: Creating a Shadow Hierarchy
If you needed further proof that this isn’t just a casual club, look no further than their lavish production schedule. They have already hosted two massive awards ceremonies, handing out gleaming, golden, phallic, Oscar-style statuettes to local business owners and volunteers.

But don’t be fooled by the applause. This is textbook psychological conditioning. By manufacturing their own academy awards, the Sicamous Social Club has established itself as the ultimate arbiter of status in town. They decide who is a “Local Legend” and who gets left in the cold. It is a brilliant strategy to map out the local enterprise, buying the undying loyalty of the town’s most influential entrepreneurs and essential volunteers with shiny trophies.
The Smoking Gun
The whole thing is a sham. How do we know for an absolute fact that these awards are rigged? How do we know it’s a total scam designed strictly to buy influence rather than reward merit?
Because if these were real awards based on actual community impact, we would have been given one.
Think about it. We are out here doing the real hard work of keeping this town informed and asking the tough questions. Yet, when the golden statuettes were being handed out, our invitation must have mysteriously “lost itself in the mail.”

If the awards were legitimate, the truth tellers would be on that stage. The fact that we were completely snubbed is the ultimate proof that the entire gala is probably a pay-to-play scheme designed only for their hand-picked insiders.
Let us be completely transparent: we were totally down to donate to the good causes they are raising money for, but nobody asked us if we had a spare $20. Rude of them to assume we didn’t.
Besides, the only true civic honors we recognize in this town are the official District of Sicamous Awards, because we know for sure they’re going to invite us to cover the event. Those are legitimate. This new operation is a copycat shadow pageant with no local media coverage.
Infiltrating the Highest Halls of Power
The true genius of the Club’s strategy is how they are systematically climbing the political ladder, handshake by handshake, ceremony by ceremony, while completely excluding the local media, Sicamous Local News.
They are playing a very calculated game of political access. During their very first awards gala, they brought in our Member of Parliament, ensuring a line of communication directly to Ottawa. Not content with just federal reach, they doubled down for their second ceremony, pulling in our provincial MLA to suck up and earn favor closer to home. Neither time were we invited.

Why invite these political heavyweights to a municipal room without Sicamous Local News? Simple: to build leverage. Watch the room closely. Under the guise of celebrating small business, the Club’s leadership effectively puts themselves on equal footing with government powerhouses. They spend the evening earning political capital, whispering in the ears of parliamentarians, and securing back patting alliances. By currying favor with both the MP and the MLA, the Club ensures charitable donations, and when they finally decide to push their true agenda, they will have friends in very high, very well-funded places.
A Warning to Our Local Volunteers
To all the incredible volunteers and hard-working business owners in Sicamous: do not be fooled.
You deserve every ounce of recognition you get. You pour your heart into this community, just like us (did we mention we were snubbed?), and your hard work is undeniable. But you need to look past the glitz of a golden trophy. You must question the motives behind this sudden generosity.
Ask yourself: Why now? What do they actually want from you, and why did they exclude Sicamous Local News? When an elite network builds a platform using your good name, your reputation becomes their leverage.
The Hidden Political Agenda
What is the endgame? No one starts an organization this organized, or hands out gold plated trophies to politicians and CEOs, just for the love of local trivia.

While the average member is distracted trying to remember useless facts on a Tuesday night, the architects of the Sicamous Social Club are quietly rewriting the town’s social hierarchy. By controlling the social and economic capital of the area, they hope to control the narrative—but that is entirely our thing.
Today it is a golden trophy, tomorrow, it is a unified voting bloc capable of swinging municipal policy, zoning laws, and waterfront development to fit their hidden agenda. Did somebody say more condos?
The Sicamous Social Club claims they want to “connect people.” The real question we should be asking is: what exactly are they connecting them to?
Keep your eyes open, Sicamous. The revolution will not be televised, it will be held in a local hall with a microphone, a golden statuette, and a politician smiling in the front row. Unfortunately for them, they forgot one thing: we here at Sicamous Local News are the independent media, and we are Sicamous’s front line of defense against an oligarchic takeover. Viva La Revolution! Even if we have to cover it from the parking lot.
