Privacy Policy

Effective Date: August 18, 2026

Sicamous Local News (“we,” “us,” or “our”) operates sicamouslocalnews.ca (the “Site”). We are committed to protecting your privacy while you enjoy our satirical content. This Privacy Policy explains how information is handled when you visit our Site.

  • No Personal Data Collection: Because this Site is a read-only platform, we do not require user registration, accounts, or profiles. We do not collect, request, or store personal identifiers such as your name, phone number, or physical address. In other words we have no interest in scrapping all your personal data and selling it to the highest bidder. You’re cool here.
  • Automatic Information & Cookies: Like most websites, our hosting platform (WordPress) automatically logs basic, non-identifying technical data when you visit. This includes your IP address, browser type, referring pages, and the date/time of your visit. This data is used solely to maintain site security, analyze traffic trends, and ensure the website loads properly. So for this, it lets us know how many people come to the site, and where they came from. We use this info to know what platforms(Facebook, etc) our fans are using. We then make sure we share our content there so you can find it. It also tells us what country your visiting from. We don’t need to know or care but it tells us in the stats so we thought we would let you know. We don’t know anything else about you. Cool? WordPress checks your browser type to make sure our page displays properly on your internet device. That also should be cool right?
  • Third-Party Links: Our articles contain links to external websites, public resources, and local organizations. Once you click these links to leave our website, we do not have control over how those external sites handle your data. We encourage you to read the privacy policies of any third-party websites you visit. So when you leave here your data is in someone else’s hands and has nothing to do with us anymore. We only use links we’ve used ourselves to legit sites, but like it said above still read the privacy policy of any sites you visit to know if they’re up to something shady. Most of the time we don’t cause its just a given the sites are all cool. Cool?
  • Compliance and Governance: This policy is designed to comply with British Columbia’s Personal Information Protection Act (PIPA) and Canadian federal guidelines. We do not sell, trade, or rent any automatic traffic data to third parties. That’s cause we’re solid like that.
