LUNA NOCTURNAL ART & WONDER

Revelstoke, BC – October 3rd, 2026

This past weekend, our newsroom expanded its geographic perimeter and sent our road crew down the TCH to Revelstoke. The mission: execute a high-density cultural audit on the annual LUNA Fest, a massive, three-day nocturnal art exhibition that blocks off the downtown core to merge interactive light installations with open air performance chaos.

Our assets arrived on the downtown perimeter grid right around dinner time, so naturally, the very first interactive exhibit they engaged with was the “Burger Ting” food truck.

Burger Ting: Home of the dinner

Upon approach, the truck’s court appeared completely empty. The staff inside the truck were operating at peak velocity, instantly absorbing orders. However, we were quick to realize, once you hand over your cash, that is when the true line actually begins.

Holding ticket Number 84, the team began running rapid logistical calculations. The exact second the speaker of the truck called out Number 76, we mathematically deduced the team was a mere seven places back from satiating satisfaction. We won’t bore you with details but over a swift 20 minute window that psychologically felt like 45, our team waited while reflecting on how the local food truck lines were only one of the lines they had come to wait in that night.

With zero time left to casually savor(We savored a little bit, it was really good), the team aggressively put back the burger and fries, and marched directly into the glowing labyrinth of the main festival grid. Below is the verified photographic evidence gathered by our field department, complete with high compliance newsroom data logging.

Now our memory’s a little fuzzy but I believe the first exhibit we hit up was the scrubbing bubbles. While were not sure what the artists inspiration was behind this exhibit, we interpreted it as an offering to cleanse the mind.

Seen here the party in front of ours getting cleansed

We would give a direct shout out to the artist but it was kinda dark out, and with coifs on ours heads everywhere we go, this did indeed make it near impossible to read the sandwich boards placed out front of the exhibits, meant to tell you about the artists and there inspiration. So were going to have to just keep guessing, what it was, we were seeing.

Coming out of the exhibit all sudsy we made our way to the Regent stage. At the time there were artist performing “Ukrainian dance“. We weren’t entirely sure what exactly made this dance specifically Ukrainian. Were pretty sure the moves would pass for dance in places outside of Ukraine as well.

Still trying to find someone on the team who took a photo of the dance rather just dancing along.

After checking out the Ukrainian B-People, and there unique style of breaking we headed to our next exhibit “The Trees Have Eyes”. While we acknowledge there were trees, none of us recall noticing any eyes. That is most likely because of the wildlife present in said wilderness alley distracting us.

We must say the local wildlife seemed to be incredibly docile. We figure this being there ninth annual Luna Festival they are quite accustomed to humans invading there natural territory, the back alley.

After emerging from the inner city wild life refuge we passed a few more exhibits that “Photography” didn’t get pictures of. When we questioned him about it back at the office he had this to say.

“There were just to many interesting things going on within the local population. Those children were just dangling off that one exhibit. All their parents standing around, all like, “This is fine”. Their artists, not engineers. Those parents were probably the type to sue when there child gets crushed beneath an art exhibit they so clearly were trying to destroy. And I quickly became distracted again when I overheard a pack of teenagers talking. “My legs just feels so amazing” and “Have you even ever seen my hands? Their huge!” How am i supposed to concentrate with that going on? They were right, I had never seen their hands before. To be honest they didn’t look that big to me but I was standing about ten meters away. They were talking quite loud. ”

While disappointed we did agree this was a pretty good reason to stop doing your job. Lucky for us “Photography” had recollected themselves by the time we got to the tourism on ice exhibit.

Were fairly certain this exhibit was meant to serve as a protest or perhaps a warning of the dark side of tourism and it impacts on the lines for the lifts. Lego, mirrors and ice boxes may have been our favorite choice of medium at the event.

Next we moved on to what seemed to resemble a speak easy. We passed by a door man who determined ID was not necessary from the members of our party, obviously because only people of age would be bold enough to wonder around in the dark with pillow cases on there heads.(Meet Our Staff) We ventured into a underground sub culture featuring live entertainment.

Singing all night, where endurance and art collide

We quickly realized, this is where the Ritz is put on, for this canary could really shout. After taking in the experience for a few minutes we realized that the lyrics the artist was juicing were really resonating with the crowd. We didn’t understand why this wouldn’t be an experience for all ages. Maybe it was? Maybe that wasn’t a real door man? Perhaps he was just posing as a door man taking the opportunity to steal identities with his meta glasses. Maybe with our intimidating hoods he just didn’t have the gall to try and steal our personal information. Either way we were glad we didn’t have to reveal ourselves.

At this point the effects of the art were really starting to kick in. Lost in bewilderment we were lucky if “Photography” remembered they even brought there phone to take pictures. We made our way through a few more alley ways to take in the spectacles.

There were actually three paintings here but somehow “Photography” missed the one on the far left
Flashing Orwellian images paired with audio, questioning our role in society. Were comfortable with who we are, no need to question anything we do.

Emerging from the art alleys this giant glowing pumpkin caught our eyes.

We started making our way towards it. Per usual we quickly became distracted. There’s something about this festival that really triggers our collective A.D.D. We would ask though, how does an entire road crew maintain focus with so much going on including this:

Flamingos? A more intriguing interpretation would be solar flares dancing through the cosmos.

Met with live performers parading through the street accompanied with music we pondered. Do we take this for what it is or does this dance need interpretation? All we know for certain is when they started slapping that block of wood rhythmically we couldn’t help but want to join in. As we shook our shakers to the beat once again our attention was stolen, this time by the night light in the sky.

A full moon for the Luna Festival had revealed it self from behind the clouds. Its almost if the organizers planned it this way rather then just getting lucky. So you see, Luna, other then just being a stylish baby name, also means Moon in a wide array of languages that we are not familiar with. But if your were speaking to us in Latin, we would know when the moon was mentioned.

Around this time we started wondering how long have we been here? That’s when we found the digital wall clock. As we observed the time we were quick to note we had entered some sort of temporal rift.

Festival goers frantically smashed at buttons trying to resecure our place and time in reality but as we observed we realized it was hopeless. Nobody could agree on what time the clock should be set to. We huddled as a team, but none of us could be certain when reality had slipped away. We assured ourselves everything would be normal by the time we woke up in the morning and moved on, only to find that the effects of the rift were wide spread through downtown.

The ice block seen above was continuously, actively melting
while simultaneously remaining completely unchanged in physical volume. While mainstream environmental networks utilize their media layouts to broadcast standard doom-and-gloom data models, Sicamous Local News looks at the facts. This exhibit provides the unassailable empirical evidence our department has been hunting for: the catastrophic melting of permanent polar ice caps and global glacial fields can be permanently halted.

We simply need a coordinated, planetary mobilization of resources to figure out a way to expand this specific Revelstoke temporal rift across the entire surface of the globe. We will leave the actual mechanisms of this fix to the climate scientist’s and physicist’s.

A little overwhelmed by everything going on we noticed the wallball court sports were open to the public so we made our way down the stairs for some athletic relief. We quickly found that Art was the racket down here as well and we were squashed between other festival attendee’s.

Interactive Art display. Possibly showing how computers are often useless without competent users.

Absolutely taken back by the first display “Photography” forgot to take any other pictures inside the courts. He did remark the squash arenas seemed to be filled with people whose paddle sport experience was completely unverifiable. We weren’t sure why this mattered. “Photography” explained, “it represents the union between sport and art”. His words were jumbled and poorly articulated but we understood the romantic idea within his head. It was swell of the Revelstoke Squash Club to allow for their space to be used for the festival.

We exited the courts via the alley and continued to wonder around for some time. The Luna Festival map included 40 different exhibits. The article is getting kinda long, so were gonna call it here. All in all Revelstoke’s Luna Festival is pretty cool way to spend your observance of the Plenilunium. Artist’s had traveled all the way from Los Angels to exhibit there work and there was even a active rave going on inside a porta potty.

The Secret Entrance and the Backyard Rave

Thanks for having us Revelstoke. Till you do something else that catches our attention, cheers!
